Since I was busy making stuff for the Midnight Rider’s video, and since I was building a solar site evaluator for one of my classes, I decided to go ahead and build a bike rack. My wife and I recently got nice bikes and they’ve just been stuck in the kitchen. It hasn’t been ideal and I thought a nice bike rack would be perfect.
I drew out some plans and got it together pretty quickly. I also filmed all the Midnight Rider footage and built a solar site analyzer. It was a busy weekend.
The results:
It’s interesting that the bike has a road frame, but has tread on the tires. I don’t think I’ve seen that configuration. Are the tires narrow like a normal road bike, or wider like a mountain bike?
It’s called a cyclocross bike. It’s mostly road bike, but has knobby tires since it’s meant to be raced on courses with pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike whilst navigating the obstruction and remount. They are also pretty good touring bikes. It’s been pretty good in Moscow. There are some cool trails around here.
